The British National Track Championships means different things to different riders. For some it is a stepping stone to the next big event, for others it is what they have trained for all year and for some it is their very first race on the “big stage”. For 2022, Black Line had every angle covered and it was brilliant to see the riders striving to meet their own individual targets.

The stand out performer for the team this year was Ellie Stone who clinched an incredible 2x National titles in both the Women’s Kerin and 500 TT. Whilst many of the riders deserve to win the title, the smile on Ellie’s face showed just how much it meant to her and we thoroughly hope that this is a indeed a stepping stone for her as she moves forward into the rest of the 2022 season. Well done Ellie, we couldn’t be happier for you.

Lauren Bell also performed well to take the Silver medal in the Women’s 500TT, making it a very impressive 1-2 for the team.

Other performances of note were the men’s team sprint of Matt Roper, Tom Alcock and Harry Radford who finished 6th, a great effort after limited practice together.

Jack Wybrow and Luke Schmidt both raised their games to hit significant pb’s in their flying 200s, certainly ones to watch for next year.

Ed Lowe and Harry Ledingham-Horn competed well, unfortunately meeting each other in in the sprint competition where Harry progressed to the quarter final stage.

Also a special mention to Hayden Norris and Millie Tanner who rode for the GB trade teams Inspire and Breeze, but are members when racing allows.

It was fantastic to see all our riders take their best to the National Championships for the first time in 2 years. Hopefully this is an indication of the performances to come for the rest of the season. What a way to start racing in 2022.
