Anadia Track Camp 2022
May 2022 saw the very first running of our Anadia Track Camp.
The aim of this camp was to be the very first of it’s kind in bringing together sprinters from around the world to an environment that allowed them to learn from the coaches, learn from each other and also to connect with the global sprint scene at the world class velodrome in Anadia.
Our target as coaches was to educate the riders and leave them with more knowledge than ability, meaning they can go away and put in practice what they have learnt. To encourage this, all of our sessions were supported with video feedback and opportunities for the riders to ask questions! Rider understanding was the very focus of the week, which is why we supported the week with 3 presentations focusing on sprint tactics, standing starts and nutrition.
Our track sessions were designed to focus on
- Team sprint
- Sprint Tactics
- Keirin Tactics
- Flying efforts
- Standing starts
I believe that as coaches, we delivered all of the above. In my opinion, what makes this week stand out is that fact that 23 riders from 10 different countries came together to create the most supportive and encouraging training environment that I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. The cycling network is global, but it is not often that we can get together in this manor and actually have the time to talk, sit by the pool and chat! The sunshine of course helps…….
One thing that is for sure is that we will be back and in 2023, and this time we will be welcoming a group of Sprinters AND Endurance riders. Your 2023 coaches will be;
- Pete Mitchell (Sprint)
- Eamonn Byrne (Sprint
- Ed Clancy (Endurance)
- Dan Henchy (Endurance)
