5:00 pm - 3:00 pm
We are incredibly excited to be coming to Alkek for a training weekend focusing on standing start technique and match sprint tactics.
Day 1 will consist of a presentation outlining the fundamental principles of both 2 and 3 up match sprint tactics. This will lead into a coach lead racing session, giving the riders the opportunity to put things in to practice. As with all our sessions, we will be supported by video feedback to show each rider what “really happened” and discuss the pros and cons in each scenario. We can get into the detail!
Day 2 is standing start day. A morning presentation explaining biomechanical efficiency in standing starts, as well as the common challenges, will be followed by gate starts. This too shall be supported by video feedback to enable us to discuss frame by frame if there are ways to become more efficient and get more force through the pedals.
Day 3 is where we put everything in to practice. A qualification standing lap will allow riders to practice their full race event warm up (with input as requested) before progressing to a full sprint competition. This will be with limited coaching input, but will be recorded and reviewed in full at the end of the day.
Our aim for this weekend is to put together a program that allows riders to explore, discuss and understand standing starts and tactics, then put it in to practice on the track. If we do things correctly, you will leave the weekend with enough understanding to reflect and continue your development every time you ride.
Venue: Alkek Velodrome
Are there any category requirements for this?
Hi Will,
No, so long as you are ready to learn about starts and sprinting it will be a great weekend. I would ask that riders are of at least 13 years of age. That’s about it. Send an email to pete@blacklinecoaching.com if you’d like more info. Hope to see you there!
I am not a sprinter but really need to work on standing start technique. Can one sign up for just Day 2?
Hi, probably. It honestly depends on how busy the session is as the starts day is more time pressured than the tactics day. Tactics would be no problem! I will send an email to you now and we can discuss.
Hi Pete
My son is attending the event. Just trying to confirm the start times each day if possible? Thanks
Do we know what hours the training sessions on Saturday and Sunday will be?
Hi Heather,
I have just sent an email to you with the itinerary for the weekend. Please reply if you have any more questions. I hope to see you there,
Pete
